The London Inn was constructed in 1962 but by 1973 the address was listed as a mental health center in classified ads. Eventually it was razed. The lot sat empty for several years until new construction went up by 2019. The new units look like apartments with retail and office mixed in.
From the opening article in July 1962:
Ground-breaking ceremonies will be held Thursday to herald the $2 1/2 million dollar London Inn Motel to be built on ward between Stimson and Peterboro.
Developers of the project area group of business and professional leaders headed by Max Osnos and Eugene I Rosen, both of Sams, Inc. The motel is being financed locally by the Public Bank and the UAW.
THE 103-UNIT first stage of the project is due to be ready by next spring. Ultimate plans call for 177 units in the six-building complex, complete with swimming pool, restaurant, bar, conference rooms and gift shop.
Scheduled to participate in the ceremonies at 2:30 p.m.Thursday are Mayor Cavanagh, Osnos, Rosen, Walter P.Reuther and John Hay, president of the Public Bank.
