The former Gem Theatre was built in 1916 as a venue for both vaudeville and the movies. The Rex Theatre was vacant for years until THSA member Evan Chase bought the thereat and restored it. A theater organ was installed at that time. The theater was sold in 1995 and is still operating (as of late-2000). It had closed by March 2016. [Cinema Treasures]

The phone # has been 517-458-3327 since March of 1997. We own the Theatre and have continuously kept it open since March of 1997. All seats have allways been $3.00. We show G,PG, and PG-13 movies. The theatre seats 216 people. It is air-conditioned during the summer months.

The Rex Theater is open and going strong. They play new releases and are operating mostly on Friday and Saturday evenings. The price as of today is $3.00 a seat and the popcorn is delicious making it affordable to attend a movie with the whole family.
