The Riviera was on Second St about where the SOS office is today. Was next door to the old Wonderland Dept Store. I stopped by there as they were tearing it down. Found some old theater ticket and posters. Have long ago lost them in moving around. I was never there while it was still in operation.

Hi,
Wow! I was blown away at the article about the Riviera Theatre in Niles.
I lived in Niles from 1955 through 1959, having graduated Niles High School in 1959.
For the life of me, I simply can't recall or visualize the Riviera Theatre! I did enjoy many, many dates with the "squeeze of the week" in the balcony of the Ready Theatre on Main Street, but sure can't conjure up even the slightest memory of the Riviera.
I would LOVE to see a photo of that place!
Best,
Bob Leets

I was looking on your indoor theatre site and noticed no mention of the Riviera Theatre in Niles. I wish I could find a picture of it but it was on Second Street in downtown Niles. A&P grocery was next door. It was owned by two sisters who I believe had a last name of Baumann. It was torn down in the 70's for "urban-renewal." The block it was in now houses a strip mall that has been peppered with failed businesses since it started.

I was there once at a very early age, but mainly attended the Ready Theatre which was in much better condition at the time.

Hoping someone out there might remember this and have more information. I may have an old B&W photo to share.
